Ceramic is the main material in the designs of the Danish design brand Dottir Nordic design. Inspiration for the beautiful ceramic designs comes from the Nordic life with the dark cold winters and clear warm summer evenings, the deep still lakes and the strong ocean currents. Scandinavian nature.
Dottir Danish design
All Dottir designs are created by the Danish designer Thora Finnsdottir. In her work you can see her passion for reviving common and well-known shapes, stimulating our perception and arousing new feelings. It is precisely by combining well-known and already existing shapes that beautiful new Scandinavian design creations are created. This way of working is typical of Thora Finnsdottir.
Handmade design
The creation of new designs can sometimes take years. The ceramic collection is designed in Denmark, handmade by designer Thora Finnsdottir. Further production takes place in Dehua, the city in the coastal province of Fujian in China, which has been known worldwide for centuries for its high quality ceramic products.
Scandinavian Design
The collection consists of a diversity of products for the home. One of her most famous series are the Pipanella vases. Ceramic vases in different sizes and shapes with their own design and with their own 'knot' on the front. The patterns on the vase and also the knob are prints of existing reliefs. For example, the dot relief pattern comes from a dot relief anti-slip mat in a kitchen drawer.
Winter Stories candlesticks
Besides Pipanella, the Winter Stories candlesticks are also very popular during the winter and Christmas period. Beautiful nature scenes of ceramics with trees and animals together.
