Information

The Studio Arhoj Slurp cup Sun Beam is a hand-molded and glazed porcelain cup. The big sister of the Sip cup. A format for tea or large coffee drinker. The nice thing is that every cup is unique, even if it looks the same at first glance, because every cup is glazed by hand and glaze is not always 100% lead. This makes these cups so unique.

Of every Slurp cup that is in the web store, there is (usually) 1 in stock. Because of this we invite you to make a nice combination, ton sur ton or a combination with a strong contrast. Extra fun to make your own selection.

Each cup is unique

The nice thing is that every cup is unique, even if it looks the same at first glance, because every cup is glazed by hand and glaze is not always 100% lead. This makes these cups so unique. Of every Slurp cup that is in the web store, there is (usually) 1 in stock. Because of this we invite you to make a nice combination, ton sur ton or a combination with a strong contrast. Extra fun to make your own selection.

The cup is made of white porcelain (that's what they call the material, it's not really white) with a unique layer of glaze. It is 7 x 10 cm and the content is approximately 220 ml. Advice is hand washing, but is also dishwasher (do not put ceramics against each other (also not against another material), this can scratch and damage) and microwave suitable.

Important: Allow the boiling water (for tea, for example) to stand for a moment before you pour it into the ceramic cup. Pouring boiling water (still bubbling) directly into a cool cup can crack the enamel.

Handmade

The cup is hand-molded in Portugal. Why in Portugal, because the material used for the cups comes from there and there is great experience in casting this material. So instead of having the material sent, they have the cups poured there and these are then sent to the Arhoj Studio. The finishing, such as glazing, is done in their own studio in Copenhagen.

Important: The photos are an indication of the cup that you are going to receive. Because each cup is unique, there may be a slight difference compared to the photo. Although the cup always has the same colors, but in a green-blue cup, one cup is slightly more green and the other blue, which has to do with the 'running' of the enamel. The atmosphere, style and color combination will be right, but there will be a difference, and one cup can have a runner, the other cannot. Colors are also always difficult to display, this usually differs per medium (laptop, mobile) and can be slightly different. This (the uniqueness and color reproduction) is a given and therefore see the photos as indicative, to which no (return) rights are granted. You can always come by (by appointment) to see the cups in real life and make your choice.

NOTE: In the shop you will find a selection of cups, Studio Arhoj makes this selection when sending. Ordering a specific cup or a second copy is therefore difficult and not possible.

Ceramic care

Important: Allow the boiling water (for tea, for example) to stand for a moment before you pour it into a ceramic cup. Pouring boiling water (still bubbling) directly into a cool cup can crack the enamel.

Non-glazed porcelain surfaces, such as the matte white areas on the Sip, slurp, chug cups and melting mugs, are sometimes sensitive to light stains, as opposed to glazed porcelain. Regular washing can help remove and prevent stains. Arhoj recommends that you wash these items by hand, but the cups can be placed in the dishwasher to remove stubborn stains. You can also put the cup in a bowl of warm water with a little washing-up liquid. Very stubborn stains can sometimes be removed with diluted chlorine and lime remover (first try in an invisible spot (underside, or this does not give any stains).

Gray lines on the glaze in the cups are usually caused by your cutlery (eg spoon). These scratches won't hurt, but if you want to get rid of them, they can be removed lightly or completely (with baking powder, miracle sponge, Cream or Tartar (Toko). Grease stains on matt glaze can be removed with baking powder and water.
