Information

The Hattifatteners are tall, thin, ghostly creatures, resembling long white socks or thin fungi. They have round neckless heads with two round, unfocused eyes. Below their heads on either side are five vibrating finger-like appendages, which can also function together as hands.

They are quiet and serious, not having the ability to talk or hear, but their tactile senses, on the other hand, are extremely accurate and they can sense even the tiniest vibrations in the ground below them. They apparently communicate via telepathy and their eyes change color depending on the weather conditions in the environment. Despite having undeniable animal characteristics, Hattifatteners grow from seeds like plants.

Hattifatteners sail the sea in small boats and meet each year on a lonely island. Their main interest is in the weather and they have a barometer together. They seem to take an interest in lightning storms, and such conditions cause them to be electrified, giving off a pale glow and being dangerous to touch. It is possible that lightning is a source of nourishment for them (and thus absorbs). The Hattifatteners want to reach the horizon, so they sail towards it forever in hopes of reaching it.

Moomins

The Moomins are the main characters in a series of books and comics by Finnish author Tove Jansson. The Moomins are Scandinavian trolls, who live in their own valley (the Moom or Moomin valley). However, they look more like hippos, rather than the real mythological troll. In total 9 books, 5 picture books and 74 comics were made. The Moomins also have their own museum in Tampere and their own theme park, Muumimaailma (The World of Moom), in Nmetaali, Finland.
