The History of Våges
The Våges family history dates back to 1875, when great-great-grandfather Carl Samuelsson began forging in a small cottage in Gisslamåla, Småland. With his craftsmanship and unique hardening method, he made everything from drills to sleds. His mark, C.P. Samuelsson, is still recognizable today.
His son, Gustav Carlsson, continued the tradition at Kulla Farm, where much of his refined forging can still be seen. To keep pace with the times, he installed electricity and built simple machines for his forge himself.
The next generation, John Gustavsson, inherited the same ingenuity. In 1960, he patented the well-known agricultural machine Kullavälten, which was used throughout Sweden.
In 1997, Våge Gustavsson, inspired by his ancestors, founded the company Våges Smide. His love of form, functionality, and "Småland" creativity formed the foundation of the modern design philosophy. Although Våge passed away in 2006, his spirit lives on in every design.
After his death, his children took over the company. Together with craftsman Pär, they continue the family tradition and remain true to the legacy of previous generations: creating timeless, clever, and distinctive products that combine craftsmanship and design.
