Marimekko Pieni Unikko Placemat acrylic coating 31x42cm dark grey

The Marimekko placemat with the Unikko design is made of heavyweight cotton with an organic acrylic coating. Thanks to the protective finish, the placemat is easy to clean with a damp cloth.

The marimekko kitchen textiles are sewn with the full width of the fabric, which means that the appearance may vary slightly. Each item is unique. The placemat is double-sided with the same fabric.

Marimekko Unikko design

The design Unikko (poppy) was born in 1964 after Armi Ratia, the founder of Marimekko, had announced that Marimekko would never print a flower pattern. Maija Isola refused to follow Armi's orders and created - out of protest - a whole series of beautiful floral prints. One of them was Unikko, which has become a story of creativity, strength, courage and confidence in itself.
